Taltarni
Founded in 1969, John Goelet purchased Taltarni in 1972 in a quest to find an ideal location to grow Cabernet Sauvignon. The site is within a perfect climatic band for growing grapes in the Southern Hemisphere - at a latitude of 37 degree S and elevation of 200-400m above sea level. The name Taltarni relates to an aboriginal word for ‘red earth’ that aptly describes the rich red soil of Victoria’s Pyrenees. The first commercial wine release was in 1977. Today, Taltarni Vineyards is one of the largest and most notable wineries in the Pyrenees. |
